It’s been just over a year since the first jars of Ilsa Hess’ Nacheez went on sale in Sacramento. After being abruptly laid off from a job with the county, Hess took a chance on marketing her vegan, cashew-based nacho sauce and has since spawned a nondairy phenomenon. Nacheez currently is sold throughout California, as well as in Indiana, Illinois, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, with more retailers on the way. (B.C.)
